Facial Revitalizing Consultation

During treatment, a JUVÉDERM filler is injected into the treatment area by a licensed specialist. The main ingredient in JUVÉDERM fillers is a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring substance that keeps skin moisturized and soft. Treatment with JUVÉDERM products by a licensed specialist provides smooth, natural-looking, long-lasting results.

How does JUVÉDERM work?

What are the different JUVÉDERM treatment options?

There are six unique JUVÉDERM fillers for different patient needs. They are used to add volume in the cheeks, chin, temples, lips, jawline, undereyes, and smile lines. Don’t worry about figuring out which one is right for you, or how many syringes you need — that’s your licensed specialist’s job!

Your Filler Questions, Answered

  • First, you’ll have a consultation with our licensed provider to determine if you’re a candidate for treatment. Your provider should ask you questions about your medical background, including what medications you are currently taking, and discuss the risks of filler procedures. This is standard for any injectable filler treatment. If you’re deemed a candidate, your provider will inject the selected JUVÉDERM® product into the approved treatment area. Be ready to remove your makeup before you get treated!

  • Certain areas, including the lips (which are full of nerve endings), can feel like a pinch or a bee sting, while others are less sensitive. That said, all JUVÉDERM® products with “XC” in the name are formulated with lidocaine, a temporary numbing local anesthetic, to help reduce discomfort. Plus, many providers will offer to apply a topical numbing cream to the area before your treatment to help reduce injection pain, and ice afterwards to help soothe. During your consultation, ask your provider about your numbing options.

  • One of the best aspects of injectable filler is that results can be seen immediately! You will likely also observe some swelling, redness, and bruising, but this usually fades over time after your treatment to reveal your true results.

  • Nope, this is a temporary treatment—once the effects wear off, you’ll need another treatment to achieve those results again.

  • The length of time each filler lasts depends on which JUVÉDERM® product your provider uses and which area they treat.

Lip fillers like JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC can last up to one year, while JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC in the cheeks can last two years and JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC in the chin lasts one year with optimal treatment. JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC used in the temple area can last up to 13 months with optimal treatment.

JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC, both used to treat the lines around the nose and mouth (like laugh lines), can last up to 18 months with optimal treatment.

JUVÉDERM® VOLUX XC, a filler that helps improve lost jawline definition, can last one year with optimal treatment.

  • The price of dermal filler varies depending on the area(s) being treated. That said, you can expect the price of a JUVÉDERM® treatment to range between $650 to $1,400. During your consultation, be sure to ask your provider what you can expect regarding the price of your specific treatment.

  • For the first 12 hours after treatment, avoid applying makeup. For the first 24 hours after your treatment, you should avoid alcoholic beverages, any strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun and heat (as these may cause temporary redness, swelling and/or itching at the injection site). (So, post-procedure, stick to TV-watching marathons instead of 26.2 mile runs!) Consult with your provider for further aftercare guidance.

What is SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM®?

SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM is a modified hyaluronic acid (HA) gel that’s injected as intradermal microdroplets below the surface of the skin, increasing hydration to improve cheek smoothness. Unlike other facial injectables that enhance and augment the treatment area, SKINVIVE® improves skin quality in the cheeks by smoothing the skin and increasing hydration. Patients treated with SKINVIVE report high satisfaction with their skin, and use words like “glowing,” “refreshed,” and “healthy” to describe how their skin looks after treatment and over the course of six months.

How SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM® works

You may have seen hyaluronic acid as an ingredient in moisturizing creams or serums. The modified hyaluronic acid in SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM keeps your skin hydrated, looking healthy, and glowing.

The modified hyaluronic acid in SKINVIVE® improves cheek skin smoothness. In clinical studies, patients who were treated with SKINVIVE reported high satisfaction with how glowing, hydrated, refreshed, and healthy their skin looked.

Your SKINVIVE Questions, Answered

  • After consultation, the treatment session typically takes about 10-15 minutes, with minimal to no downtime. You should avoid alcoholic beverages, strenuous exercise, and exposure to extensive sun and heat for the first 24 hours after treatment.

  • First, you’ll meet with your provider to chat about your medical history and treatment goals. This will help your provider determine if you’re a suitable candidate for treatment. (Pro Tip: come to the office without makeup on!) Then, your provider will examine your facial skin, take photos, and—if they think you’re a suitable candidate—offer up a few different options for pain management. Next, the treatment area will be cleaned and prepared with an antiseptic, and your provider may use a pen to mark and identify the areas they’d like to treat.

After the first injection, your provider will wait a few seconds before moving forward with treatment. SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM contains lidocaine to reduce injection site pain, and this break in treatment allows time for the anesthetic to take effect. Then the provider will inject microdroplets into the treatment area. Afterwards, they may massage the area gently to make sure that the product is evenly distributed, then apply ice to minimize swelling and reduce pain.

  • During your SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM consultation, ask your provider about numbing options—especially if you are sensitive to needles— because there may be minor discomfort during and after the treatment. As previously mentioned, SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM contains lidocaine to reduce injection site pain, but your provider may also choose to numb the treatment area with a topical or injected numbing agent to further minimize discomfort. Ice may be applied for a brief period following treatment to minimize swelling and reduce pain.

  • SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM provides results over the course of six months, without requiring a recurring series of treatments. Not only that, 84% of subjects were satisfied with how healthy their skin looked at one month, and 83% at six months (in comparison, only 38% of subjects felt this way pre-treatment). Overall, patients reported how glowing, hydrated, refreshed, and healthy their skin looked after treatment.†

†As measured using the Satisfaction with Skin module of the validated FACE-Q questionnaire. Glow was reported by patients using a validated questionnaire that included satisfaction with how radiant their skin looked.

  • Results typically last through six months with optimal treatment.‡ Once the effects wear off, you’ll need another treatment to maintain results. Consistent retreatment can help add HA, which increases hydration in your skin.

‡A touch-up treatment may be required to achieve desired goals.

  • While individual results may vary, results may last for six months.

  • The price of HA injectables varies depending on the area(s) being treated. That said, you can expect the price of a SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM treatment to range between $350 and $700. During your consultation, be sure to ask your provider what you can expect regarding the price of your specific treatment.

  • For the first 24 hours after treatment, avoid alcoholic beverages, strenuous exercise, and exposure to extensive sun and heat (as these may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site). Consult with your provider for further aftercare guidance.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Your body’s own “regenerative glow”
